Lower Back Pain

Low Back Pain is a common disorder involving the muscles and bones of the back. Low back pain may be classified by duration as acute, subchronic or chronic. The condition may be further classified by the underlying cause as mechanical, non-mechanical, or referred pain. Low back pain is not a specific disease but rather a complaint that may be caused by a large number of underlying problems. Obesity, weight gain during pregnancy, stress, poor physical condition, poor posture and poor sleeping position contribute to low back pain.

Eighty per cent (80%) of people will experience lower back pain at some stage of their life. Back pain is a symptom caused by numerous biopsychosocial conditions. It is one of the most common reasons for people missing work and seeing a doctor or physiotherapist. Fortunately, most back pain is caused by musculoskeletal conditions and can be readily treated with great success
